How to make a lot of dust Part 1

I am in the process of removing the old teak veneer deck from my boat. I knew this had to be done when I bought the boat and I knew it was going to be a lot of work. As it turned out I didn't have a clue...

Originally the teak was 4 mm 3/16" thick but in some places it was down to zero. But of course, where it hadn't been walked on it was still the orignal thickness. It is a no brainer now but these are the exact same places where my powertools can not get to!

As I knew it was to be a lot of work I decided straight away to be prepaired to buy tools if required. I thought an electric planer would work well and was able to borrow one for a little test. It chewed away at the teak nicely so I bought myself a cheap electric planer with disposable tungsten carbide blades and got going with great anticipation.

20 minutes later the blades were both dull and broken.

The boat was built with getting a teak deck in mind and not all the screws were flush with the surface of the marine ply deck below.

Let's remove the screws so I can keep on planing!

A lot of work? Pff, THAT was still to come!
