Shorthanded engine work: Intermezzo

As an inventor I always think about how to do stuff. And as a lazy one, how to do stuff in the most effective way, with the least amount of energy or in the shortest amount of time.

I had learned quite quicly that you do not want to drag an outboard engine over the boat to get to land, and more importantly, you do not lift it from the brackets when you are on the back of the boat!

Shorthanded engine work

I was in a rush this year to get my boat in the water. My small boat that is. I had an apointment to go sailing with a group so I did not want to let them down. With my bigger boat I had encountered a lot of problems with the renewal of the deck surface so at this point I was happy to have another.

After a bit of a sprint to finish some varnishing it wat time to put her back in to the water.

How to make a lot of dust Part 2 "Sandblasting"

So the screws were braking my expensive planer blades.
The only solution I could come up with was to remove the screws before planing. But how to get to them without using the planer?

Handy marking tool

surface marking tool

As part of the deck renewal I had to make a new deck for the scoop.

In the proces of prepairing the scoop for the new deck I made a very handy tool for marking the future plane that the deck would rest on.

How to make a lot of dust Part 1

I am in the process of removing the old teak veneer deck from my boat. I knew this had to be done when I bought the boat and I knew it was going to be a lot of work. As it turned out I didn't have a clue...

Get a bigger boom, wear a hood

One sunday I ended up in a big shower. Somehow I had been able to avoid sailing in the rain, just sailing in the rain, what a wo... Sorry, got side tracked, for a long time so it felt a bit strange after all this time.

Normally I feel very much aware of my surroundings and what is going on. But a break in routine may easily set something new in motion.

A great big nothing instead of Pfffffft

Last season my lifejacket and Binoculars got stolen out of a crate as I was taking stuff to the boat at the beginning of the season. I didn't want to be without eiter one so I replaced them.

Ploinck! Be sure to check unfamiliar sounds

Two seasons ago I was returning from a lovely day of sailing. It had been sunny all day and there still was a nice gentle breeze. I could hear the small waves comming of the bow.

Aaargh! part 2: How to carry your tools to the car

I always take a lot of tools with me. I want to be sure to have all my tools with me (oh utopia) so at some point I bought the biggest toolchest that I could find. It has an extendable handle and a set of wheels to drag it behind you with relative ease.

Aaargh! Be well rested and achieve a lot more

I went to the boat today.

After just half an hour the last part of the old exhaust was removed. Almost an entire day to do lots of other stuff!

Not.
